Valentine's Day 2013

There is so many different avenues for connecting on social networks these days that I find one must spend  time on a computer accessing many different sites to keep up with the world!  So my reason for not keeping this Blog current!  I completely forgot to review it!  Valentine's Day has come and gone.  I am very thankful to all my customers for supporting my floral design business and I trust that they are enjoying the beautiful fresh roses, carnations, mums, lilies and many more fragrant flowers in their bouquets and arrangements they either gave to a love one or received from a loved one. I so enjoyed creating the many beautiful flower arrangements and having them shared with others! Keep up with fresh water and floral food every two days while trimming the stem ends.  Flowers are very thirsty and need to have "the pores in their stems" open to take up the water and floral food!

Summer is finally here!

Summer has finally arrived!  The hay has been cut, the lawns are green, the garden-well not so good as previous years but there will still be an abundance of corn, cucumbers, lots of dill already and various other organic vegetables ready! Our little farm is enjoying, or at least trying to enjoy, the beauty of our wildlife who have decided that they really enjoy my fruit crops, flowers and my vegetables!  I guess it is really good that I have always planted enough for ourselves and the deer!  They are so very elegant to watch though they destroy all my plantings!! And summer also brings new life from the late spring.  Here is our latest addition to the farm where the deer and the antelope and the puppies play!

Easter 2012

Easter Sunday is one of the warmest days yet this year!  Checking on things growing in the garden-we have garlic up about 2 inches; the new iris planted last year are growing and of course somehow those hens and chicks survive the winter cold!  Tulips are blooming in the greenhouse and daffodils are up in the garden.  Lots of Easter floral arrangements have been made for Designs by Darlene and all but 3 have been sold and delivered!

Daylight savings time is here!

It's a beautiful, cloudy, rainy day on March 10, 2012 and is daylight savings day today!  This means that spring is just around the corner, I believe spring is March 21 so it is here real soon!  The flower seeds have been started in trays and the tulips and daffodils are up about 2 inches from the soil in the pots in the greenhouse! Yipee!!

OMG...February 2012

I can't believe it is snowing outside!  We have had such little snow this year I just hope that the deer don't dig in the garden to eat any baby perennials that might sprout!  Tulips are planted in the pots and in the greenhouse and I just can't wait till they start to grow!

Looking forward to spring coming and get the gardens growing!  Christmas trees are now about 3 feet and might even be ready for small sales next year!  We will see!  Talk with you in the spring!  Merry Christmas and all the best for a Happy New Year!
